Book & Paper Arts | (Press-less) Relief Printmaking Workshop Learn Printmaking! Select a date from the drop-down menu. In this 3-hour press-less printmaking workshop, students will explore the tactile process of hand relief printing by drawing, carving, and printing directly from linoleum blocks. Without the need for a traditional press, students will learn how to transfer their own imagery, experiment with carving techniques, and print by hand, using simple tools. Guided by Printmaker & Artist-Instructor Kelvin Lopez, students will also discuss how prints can hold personal stories, memories, and cultural connections. Each participant will leave with a series of hand-pulled prints and a deeper understanding of relief printing’s expressive potential. In preparation, it is ideal if students can think, plan and bring a design or image they have in mind to class. Bold, high-contrast images work best. The approximate size of your image should fit on a 5-inch by 7-inch to 8-inch by 10-inch block. This class is appropriate for ages 14 years and older. • Military, first responders and sibling discounts: Email us for more information. • Scholarships available: Click here for an application. • Homeschool funds accepted: Click here for enrollment details. • If this class is full, join the Interest List to be notified. • If you would like to be notified of future offerings, join the Interest List to be notified when new dates or spaces are available.
