GLASS ARTS Making functional and aesthetic work through glass, heat and handcraft San Diego Craft Collective’s growing Fused & Glass Arts Program invites learners of all ages to explore this visual, transformative, and tactile medium. Glass offers color, light, and movement—an engaging way to create both functional and expressive work. The program is supported by a small group of experienced glass artists who are passionate about their craft and excited to share their skills with you and your family. Fused Glass & Glass Arts for Children | 3-12 years Craft Collective offers a variety of learning opportunities for children, including Afterschool Craft Classes, Workshops and Seasonal Camps. Glass Arts classes focus on age-appropriate techniques that engage curious, creative minds. Monthly Craft Studio classes provide a diverse, ever-rotating array of crafts, including glass arts, to assist children in their exploration of craft mediums, with Craft Studio for Younger Children, 3-6 years & Craft Studio for Kids, 6-12 years. Fused Glass & Glass Arts for Teens & Adults | 12+ years Craft Collective offers fused glass and glass arts classes for teens and adults throughout the year. Projects rotate seasonally and are thoughtfully designed to be fun, creative, skill‑building, and functional. Our classes are led by glass artists who are skilled in their craft and passionate about teaching. Recurring Fused Glass & Glass Arts Classes FUSED GLASS Fused Glass Workshops are a fun place to begin exploring the magic and beauty of working with glass as a craft medium. In these workshops, students learn how fused glass differs from other forms of art glass. Classes explore what tools are used in creating pieces, how to cut and grind glass, and how to create functional and decorative pieces of glass art. Beginners welcome! Craft Collective offers a range of workshops throughout the year. No experience necessary. STAINED GLASS Intro to Stained Glass is a creative and fun starting point for those interested in exploring the colorful visuals and graphic potentials Glass Arts offer. In this introductory workshop, students will complete a small project using glass they select from a variety of colors and textures. Different patterns are available to choose from. Students will learn how to handle glass; cut and grind glass; apply copper foil; and solder pieces together to create a one-of-a-kind stained glass piece. Beginners welcome! Explore free-form stained glass in our Stained Glass Flower Workshop. Beginners are welcome in this introductory stained glass class. Each student will create a simple one-piece flower pattern while learning to safely handle, cut and grind glass; apply copper foil; and learn soldering techniques. After the first flower, students are welcome to make more flowers. Beginners welcome! 7-Week Leaded Stained Glass is for students seeking a deeper dive into the world of traditional stained glass technique. In this series, students complete one or more 2-dimensional panels that will transform any room or space while developing their glass arts skills with our stained glass professional artist educator.
