COVID-19 Information

As of March 2022, the County of San Diego discontinued the mask mandate for outdoor and non-high-risk indoor public settings, including K-12 schools. Because we hold the majority of classes and summer camps outdoors in Parking Lot Q, behind our studio, we leave mask-wearing up to the individual or parent.

We continually clean equipment and work surfaces, and a bottle of hand sanitizer is always available. Our indoor studio has air filtration, high ceilings, and 18 operable windows and double front and back doors that can be opened. Masks indoors are also optional.

Registration, Fees, Cancellations, and Refunds

Workshop registration is first come, first served. Classes require a minimum of 3 and host a maximum of 6 participants. When you purchase a spot in one of our classes, you will be charged the full cost. Your ticket is transferrable if you can’t make it. Just let us know who is coming. Note that you must transfer the entire class to the person taking your spot, and not just a class that you cannot attend if it’s a series.

If a workshop does not meet our minimum class size requirement, we reserve the right to cancel the class and offer you a spot in a future class of equal value, or a refund.

* To request a cancellation more than 7 days prior to the class:
We will issue you a refund, less a small fee to cover our costs. Alternatively, you may transfer your spot to a future class. This helps us avoid those fees.

* To request a cancellation less than 7 days prior to the start of the workshop or after it starts:
We cannot offer refunds at this point. We purchase supplies and make commitments to pay our instructors, and we honor them.

There are no refunds for no-shows.

Private Classes

Once a private class has been booked, date change requests are subject to a $50 non-refundable fee and are approved at the discretion of the director. Please understand that we make commitments to our instructors, and we also may have purchased supplies.

Safety

ALL OF OUR CLASSES REQUIRE PROPER SAFETY ATTIRE. Most of our classes are held outdoors. So dress appropriate for the weather. In general, wear comfortable clothing in layers. Adult woodworking classes are held indoors in our woodshop. For woodworking and other craft classes that use power tools, hearing protection, safety glasses and dust masks are required. Also, do not wear loose/baggy/dangly clothing or jewelry. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory. Tie back long hair.

Tie back long hair. If you have them, bring a tape measure, dust mask and your own hearing and eye protection. If not, you may borrow. Feel free to bring any other tools relevant to the class.

Food and Beverages

No food or drink is allowed around machinery. There is a kitchen area in the studio with a fridge/freezer, sink, microwave, hot plate, and toaster oven. We have tea, but we do not have coffee. There is a water fountain down the hall near the bathrooms. Full-day workshops include a scheduled lunch break. You are welcome to bring your lunch and have access to our kitchen. There are great places to eat in Liberty Station, including The Lot, Banyan Kitchen, Moniker General, Solare, Vons, Trader Joe’s, Tender Greens, Stone Brewery, and Liberty Public Market.

Pets

We adhere to the Liberty Station rules of not allowing animals into the building. Service animals with proper identification can enter and remain in the building but must not create a safety concern for participants and tenants. Dogs must be on a leash at all times at Liberty Station. There is a park nearby where leashed dogs can be walked.

Cell Phones and Wifi

We ask that you silence your phones when participating in a workshop or event in respect for the instructor and your fellow students’ focus. If you need to take a call or text, please excuse yourself and attend to the matter either in the hallway or outside the building away from other in-progress classes.

Wireless internet access is provided if necessary. The username and password are available upon request.

Legal

You must sign a waiver at the start of each workshop that asks you to be responsible for your own actions during the workshop. It also asks your permission to allow us to use your likeness in any photos or videos captured during the workshop.

We reserve the right to dismiss any student, without refund, for behavior that is disruptive to the studio environment. We may refuse admission to a student with a history of unacceptable behavior.

Arrival, Materials, Parking, and Loading

If you are participating in a workshop, please arrive 10-15 minutes early so that the session can start on time. We host the majority of our classes outdoors in a portion of Parking Lot Q. We rope off the area closest to the back loading dock, so please park on the side of the building.

Materials are provided in many of our workshops, but some may require an additional materials fee. This information will be shown under each workshop description.

For woodworking classes, we provide sandpaper, glue, and some finish and joinery options such as dominoes, biscuits, and wall hangers. You may also purchase extra material from San Diego Craft Collective or directly from the instructor on an as-needed basis. Check with your class instructor for details.

Once you sign up for a workshop, you will receive a confirmation email showing your purchase, and usually a couple of days before the start of the class, you’ll receive another email that includes information about the class and any required or recommended things to bring.

We have a loading dock in the back parking lot with a private entrance to our studio for loading and unloading projects, wood, tools, etc.

Unless otherwise noted, we do not provide storage for classes, so please plan to take your tools and materials (including lumber) with you at the end of each session.

Below is a map showing our location and the entrance to the parking lot.
