No experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome!  In instructor Jeanine Ertl’s class, students will weave together in a space of colorful creativity and openness. She will provide instruction on weaving, a warped lap loom and a rainbow of recycled sari silk ribbon and yarn fibers to ignite your imagination. And we’ll weave together, learning and playing with the basics of the process from start to finish, each creating a unique handwoven that can be hung or draped, according to your desires. Please feel free to bring any items you may want to incorporate into your weaving, like interesting fibers, foraged and gathered natural objects, shells with holes, beads, etc. you may want to incorporate into your weaving.

Each Weaver will complete a one-of-a-kind Handwoven Wall Hanging. In addition, if you find that you’re in love with the practice, you will have an option to purchase the loom you are working with, as well as additional fiber and tools to continue at home. Come explore mindfully making in a space of creativity & harmony with others.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Always interested in finding ways to add harmony, beauty and depth to my life and space, my journey with fiber and textiles began as a child. I adored piles of colorful yarn and fabric. I had always felt, that in some other life, I’d been someone who breathed life into these mediums. As my path wound its way, I fell in love with the nature of story and pursued Literature & Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley. After Peace Corps service in a tiny village in the Amazon Rainforest, I returned to California and spent the next decade working, starting a family, and eventually, exploring fiber arts. I learned to weave at a Cistercian monastery on the Lost Coast of California, and quickly found my life-long passion. I am nurtured, connected and aligned while weaving. And Intuitive Weaving, as I call it, has been a place of unpacking emotions; subconsciously discovering new frontiers; understanding intertwinement; and learning to be gracious, not just with the world, but with myself. My small business, ANINI Designs, now specializes in offering a variety of craft supplies — natural dyes, natural fiber dyeables, and handwoven &/or hand-dyed textiles. I enjoy creating a sustainable, eco-friendly, inspiring future of mindfully making, exploring and teaching these craft mediums to you. – Jeanine Ertl, Owner, Weaver, Natural Dyer & Educator at ANINI Designs
