Bundle Dye Workshop

$85.00

New Date to be Announced!

Adults and Ages 10+ (with parent) welcome!

Explore bundle dyeing — using flowers and plant-based food scraps to infuse natural pigment into fiber. Create a one-of-a kind silk scarf with nature’s gift of color. While our bundles steam, we will paint with the flowers and plant-based food scraps and observe how natural modifiers can create a rainbow of colors on paper. If you like, gather a handful of your favorite flowers to bring and use in your bundle. This is an excellent workshop to do with a child, although anyone is welcome! If you’d like to work on one single project with your child, just purchase one ticket.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Hayley Haspel-Winick’s journey into stitching began with her grandfather handing her a needle to sew on a button. She learned about textiles while tagging along with him through his clothing factory in New Orleans. Her costume design teacher introduced her to natural dye when she set a bag of onion skins on the cutting table. During her 30 years of working with teachers and children, she introduced the use of upcycled fibers and natural dyes as art mediums to ensure all children and teachers had an opportunity for creative expression. Her experiences hiking, from the mountains to the deserts of SoCal is what has continued to fuel her passion for natural dyes and methods to capture the depth of color found in nature.
