ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

I’m an Argentinian nomad who discovered the art of macrame while traveling through South America. Driven by curiosity, I approached crafters, artisans, and street vendors along my journey, eager to learn new knots. Many generously taught me their techniques and even gifted me materials to get started. Macrame soon became my therapy and spiritual practice—a creative outlet I embraced everywhere: on buses, boats, beaches, parks, riversides, in valleys, cities, and jungles. As I traveled, my skills grew, and eventually, macrame became my livelihood. I supported myself by selling jewelry in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico. I also had the privilege of taking classes in Peru, where the artisans are masters of the craft. Now, I hope to pass on this ancient art form, wishing it brings others the same joy and creativity it has brought me. – Jennifer Areas
