Beginners welcome! Ages 15+years! Join us for a special workshop with Guest Artisan & Instructor Chelsea Lööw, visiting from Sweden and introducing a limited series of workshops with Craft Collective this year! An educational, hands-on workshop for those who want to experience the freedom and creativity of making their own all-natural lip balm from scratch. In this 1.5-hour class, you’ll learn about the properties and benefits of beeswax and our different carrier oils then create a custom batch of lip balm using a selection of organic beeswax, nourishing carrier oils, scents, and even tints. Each participant will leave with several tins of their own lip balm, plus the knowledge to make more at home. It’s Choose Your Own Adventure, Lip Balm Edition!

A note about ingredients and sensitivities: This workshop introduces a range of plant-based oils and butters, including sweet almond, apricot kernel, coconut, castor, jojoba, avocado, marula, and moringa oils as well as butters from shea and cupuaçu. Because individual allergies and sensitivities vary, please let us know about any known seed, nut, or botanical allergies when you register. We’ll review the ingredient list and help you choose the ones that best suit you!

This course is held indoors, so we suggest:
• Dress in layers so you can adjust to the studio temperature.
• Bring water/beverage and a snack if you need to be comfortable.
• Wear comfortable clothes.

DIRECTIONS: Located in Liberty Station’s Arts District, you can find our studio at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor of the Dorothea Laub Music & Arts Center (Bldg 176) at the corner of Roosevelt & Truxtun, next to The Lot movie theater. There is plenty of free parking. Parking Lot Q is behind our studio — enter via the driveway off Dewey. Across the street in the Vons parking lot, it is also free. If you can’t find us, call or text 619.273.3235.

CLASS SIZE: 5 min. If the minimum is not met, you will receive a full refund or credit toward another class.

REFUNDS: No refunds for tardiness or no-shows. For a refund (minus a 5% processing fee), you must cancel 7 days before the start of the class. After 7 days, we cannot offer refunds, as materials and supplies have already been purchased.

TRANSFERS: You may transfer your enrollment spot to someone else, but transfers must happen before the workshop begins. Please email us to let us know who’s coming.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Mother, maker, traveler, teacher, beekeeper. Born and raised here in San Diego, Chelsea Lööw is the founder of Beauty & the Bees, her Swedish beekeeping company founded in 2013. An adventurous spirit has taken her many places in life and led her to experiment with a range of artistic media, from photography and creative writing to linocutting and sewing, but she’s especially keen on beeswax-based products from the hive. Believing that nature is the ultimate designer, she endeavors to mirror its perfect-imperfection, appreciate its ingenuity, and connect with its flow.
