Upcoming dates & times: May 29 & June 5, 6-8:30pm & June 19, 6-7:30pm

In this cozy, beginner-friendly class, you’ll create your own one-of-a-kind mug with a small sculpted animal nestled inside. This class is designed for both complete beginners and for those with some experience who want to create a more defined, personal piece or try something new.

During the first 2.5 hour session, think of this as your introduction to the wheel. You’ll learn the basics of wheel throwing and create a few forms, giving you the chance to explore and choose the shape you like most for your final mug. In the second 2.5 hour session, we’ll focus on building your animal and attaching a handle. Using simple handbuilding techniques, you’ll shape and personalize your creature, adding character and bringing your idea to life. In the third 1.5 hour session, we’ll move into decorating and glazing. You’ll use underglazes and glaze combinations to add color, expression, and small details that make your piece feel truly your own.

This workshop is designed to introduce you to multiple ceramic techniques in one experience, including wheel throwing, handbuilding, and surface decoration. It’s a relaxed class focused on creating something personal, playful, and uniquely yours.

Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class.
Beginners welcome. Ages 18+ years
We recommend that each student bring an apron to wear and an older towel or a cloth rag.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Dora Daniliuk started her ceramics journey during college, where she was studying 3D Animation and signed up for a ceramics class just for fun, but very quickly it became something much more meaningful, as she realized she had always been drawn to working with her hands and creating pieces that people could use and enjoy in their everyday lives. She spent a lot of time working with clay, continued practicing outside of class, and eventually became a teacher’s assistant, later also volunteering in different spaces and staying closely connected to the learning environment. Now she works from a small home studio, where she creates and sells small batch functional and decorative pieces online, with a focus on soft, delicate, and feminine forms that feel gentle, personal, and a little whimsical. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, practicing yoga, and spending time with her friends. In her classes, Dora creates a calm and supportive space where mistakes are part of the process, encouraging students to explore, experiment, and feel comfortable trying something new, so they can leave with something they truly love.
