Ceramics | 5-Week Ceramic Wheel Throwing: Saturdays$420.00 Learn to throw ceramics on a wheel! Saturdays from 10am – 12:30pm, with the last class of the series from 10am – 1pm Select a session from the drop-down menu. This beginner-friendly 5-week pottery course focused on learning the foundations of wheel throwing while creating functional and personal ceramic pieces. Throughout the 5-week course, students will explore wheel throwing fundamentals including centering, pulling walls, trimming, foot rings, handle attachment, surface decoration, underglazes, and glazing techniques. During the first week, students will be introduced to the pottery wheel and learn the basics of centering and shaping simple forms while getting comfortable working with clay. In the second week, students will continue building confidence on the wheel while creating more intentional functional forms such as mugs, bowls, and small plates. The third week focuses on trimming and refinement techniques, including foot rings, surface cleanup, and handle attachment to help elevate and finish each piece. During the fourth week, students will explore surface design and decoration using underglazes, texture, carving, and decorative details to give their work its own personality and style. After bisque firing (no class week), the final class will focus on glazing and finishing techniques. Students will learn how different glazes interact and complete their finished ceramic pieces. This course is designed for complete beginners as well as students looking to strengthen their foundational wheel-throwing skills in a supportive and creative environment. Whether you come on your own or alongside a friend, this class is all about slowing down, getting your hands messy, and creating pieces that feel uniquely yours. All materials included. No prior experience required. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. Beginners welcome. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Dora Daniliuk started her ceramics journey during college, where she was studying 3D Animation and signed up for a ceramics class just for fun, but very quickly it became something much more meaningful, as she realized she had always been drawn to working with her hands and creating pieces that people could use and enjoy in their everyday lives. She spent a lot of time working with clay, continued practicing outside of class, and eventually became a teacher’s assistant, later also volunteering in different spaces and staying closely connected to the learning environment. Now she works from a small home studio, where she creates and sells small batch functional and decorative pieces online, with a focus on soft, delicate, and feminine forms that feel gentle, personal, and a little whimsical. In her free time, she enjoys hiking in the mountains, practicing yoga, and spending time with her friends. In her classes, Dora creates a calm and supportive space where mistakes are part of the process, encouraging students to explore, experiment, and feel comfortable trying something new, so they can leave with something they truly love.
