Want to make more tiny ceramics after taking our Tiny Ceramics Wheel Throwing workshop?!

Tiny Wheel Open Studio is an opportunity for students to practice the tiny wheel throwing skills learned in our Tiny Ceramics Wheel Throwing workshop.  Students have the chance to work while our beginner class is running, with more time to create their own pieces. This is not an instructional class, though students are welcome to use the opportunity for a refresh as the beginner class runs.

Ages 12+ welcome.

Requirement: You must have taken Tiny Ceramics Wheel Throwing with Instructor Gracie Rhoads.

Materials Note: By signing up for Tiny Wheel Open Studio, you will receive enough clay to throw a few small ceramic creations on the wheel (up to 5), and up to 3 can be glazed. Instructor Gracie will trim, smooth, label, dry and fire each student’s work. We work with midfire clay. No outside clay is allowed (because disastrous things can happen in the kilns).

Rules and Etiquette:
Please do not interrupt class as it runs. Once Gracie has completed her demonstration, you may consult her as time permits, with priority given to Tiny Ceramics Wheel Throwing students.

We recommend that each student bring an apron to wear and an older towel or a cloth rag.

Clay Open Studio is hosted outdoors, so we suggest:
• Dress in layers so you are comfortable outside.
• Bring water/beverage, if needed.
• Long hair must be tied back.
• Do not wear clothing with flowy sleeves and no dangly jewelry as these items can get caught on machines.
• Bring an apron + wear comfortable clothes that can get messy. Aprons can be purchased from us here.

DIRECTIONS: Located in Liberty Station’s Arts District, you can find our studio at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor of the Dorothea Laub Music & Arts Center (Bldg 176) at the corner of Roosevelt & Truxtun, next to The Lot movie theater. There is plenty of free parking. Parking Lot Q is behind our studio — enter via the driveway off Dewey. Across the street in the Vons parking lot, it is also free. If you can’t find us, call or text 619.273.3235.

REFUNDS: No refunds for tardiness or no-shows. For a refund (minus a 5% processing fee), you must cancel 7 days before the start of the class. After 7 days, we cannot offer refunds, as materials and supplies have already been purchased.

TRANSFERS: You may transfer your enrollment spot to someone else, but transfers must happen before the workshop begins. Please email us to let us know who’s coming.

THERE IS NO INSTRUCTION FOR CLAY OPEN STUDIO. Use of the materials and wheel are included.
