Have you ever wished you’d stumble upon a tiny fairy house while walking in a deep forest? Join felting artist Sophie Ancel in this 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn to make your own little house using needle felting techniques. Students will use natural wool roving and batting, felt, beads and simple embroidery. The class requires the use of sharp felting needles and we will cover how to safely use felting needles. Guards will also be provided. Each student will have the option of creating a tiny home equipped with a door, window, and decorated with flowers and leaves. This little home can be used as a box as the roof can act as a lid! You will be given a tiny light for added fairy house magic. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: I am a French and American textile artist working mostly with wool and yarn. I started needle felting about 10 years ago, creating dimensional landscapes that talk about our place in nature and our connections to each other. I love needle felting wool so much for the freedom it offers as a medium and for its fast learning curve. There is also a depth in the colors that is really mesmerizing. It is my pleasure to introduce people to this different way of creating art, in classes here at the fantastic San Diego Craft Collective that show techniques and tools so you can leave with something you’re happy to have made! My work has been shown in local galleries here in San Diego and in Saint Malo, France. It can also be found for sale at the San Diego Museum of Art’s beautiful gift store, at the lovely French Delights coffee shop in Encinitas and occasionally in various art fairs. – Sophie Ancel 1 review for Fiber Arts | Felting: Wool Needle Felt Fairy House Rated 5 out of 5 Jenna (verified owner) – December 8, 2024 Sophie is a wonderful teacher and artist who is incredibly patient and kind. I took this class on a whim without really knowing what to expect, and I’m glad I did. Everyone had a great time and created something beautiful thanks to Sophie’s thoughtful guidance and hands-on instruction. We all left class with a special fairy house of our very own that looked just like the photo in the class description (with our own personal touches and color choices). Everyone who’s seen mine has been completely blown away. Such a fun experience! Add a reviewYour email address will not be published.
