MIXED MEDIA Creating visual art through combined materials integrated into a single form San Diego Craft Collective offers a growing Mixed Media Arts Program, sharing the joy of interdisciplinary thinking, creativity, and collaboration in the visual arts. By combining a variety of media, skills and craft techniques, students are encouraged to think outside of the box in their creative explorations. Mixed Media for Children | 3-12 years Craft Collective offers a variety of learning opportunities for children, including Monthly Craft Studio Classes, Workshops, and Seasonal Camps. Mixed Media Arts classes focus on age-appropriate techniques that engage curious and creative minds. Monthly Craft Studio classes provide a diverse and ever-rotating array of crafts, including mixed media arts, to help children explore the wide world of craft. Mixed Media for all Ages Craft Collective offers a wide variety of mixed media classes in collaboration with local artists and artisans. Workshops and classes vary throughout the year, with new classes offered each month. Recurring Mixed Media Classes Puppet Making Workshop is offered each season and offers a creative, colorful morning or afternoon of fun for children and adults of all ages. Create a professional arm-rod-and-mouth puppet of your very own from Rene Rubalcava, owner and puppeteer of LV Puppet Studio of Las Vegas who learned the art of puppet making from a Jim Henson Muppeteer. In this workshop, we guide you from start to finish as you select, cut, hot glue and assemble the pieces and personality of your own customized puppet. No sewing is required in this workshop. Students bring their puppets to life with their own unique interests and imaginations, and by choice and placement of different face details. Each one is unique! Find your puppet’s voice and learn puppetry basics. Great fun for all ages! * No experience necessary. WELLNESS Learn to Create Your own Signature Scent in our Intro to Perfumery Workshop. This workshop is designed to introduce you to the world of perfumery. During the workshop, you will create your own signature scent using a variety of essential oils and fragrance notes provided by our French Perfume Designer, Jil Croquet. You will learn about Perfume composition, have fun smelling and enter the very secretive world of Perfume Formulation. You will learn how to blend and balance scents, as well as the basics of perfume-making techniques. This is a unique workshop and great fun to take with a loved one or friend! * No experience necessary. Make your own Essential Oil Blend is a hands-on workshop for beginners interested in learning to create a natural oil-based perfume, using one’s intuitive senses! Be guided by a perfumer and aromatherapist to formulate your perfect blend, but find out what scents you choose after the blend is created and finished. This class will test your preferences and show you what you like beyond the association of name and brand. PRINTING Block Printing Basics: Design, Carve & Print Your Own Paper Goods is an introductory printing class for students to explore creating their own personalized stamps while carving lino blocks and then printing on paper goods. Beginners welcome! Block Printing on Clothing: Upcycle Your Wardrobe is a fun and creative upcycling workshop exploring lino block carving in order to create unique designs on your own items from home! Beginners welcome! Block Printing on Fabric: Totes, Tea Towels & Textiles is a beginner-friendly workshop! Students are guided step-by-step through designing, carving, and hand-printing their own original block. Use it to create a custom tote bag or tea towel in class – perfect for everyday use or a thoughtful handmade gift. Beginners welcome! KINTSUGI Kintsugi, often called “golden joinery,” is more than just an art form; it’s a profound philosophy deeply rooted in Japanese culture. It treats the mending of broken pottery as an artful and spiritual practice, celebrating imperfections and the beauty of resilience. Craft Collective offers two kintsugi classes: Kintsugi Experience or Kintsugi | Embracing Imperfection, guiding you through this rich cultural tradition and creative hands-on process. As you mend your own piece of pottery, you’ll discover, not only the art of Kintsugi, but also the art of self-acceptance and resilience. * No experience necessary. BOOK & PAPER ARTS Book & Paper Arts are a fun way to explore how physical books can be adapted and constructed in creative, unique and oftentimes colorful ways. Learn to customize your own books, papers, covers and more in one of our book arts workshops. Workshops include: Block Printing Basics: Design, Carve & Print Your Own Paper Goods, Mixed Media Flag Tag Book, Decorative Pop-up Card, Flower Press Book, Hardcover Book/Journal, Paper Making, Paper Marbling, Origami. * New projects and workshops announced seasonally.
