OUR VISION

San Diego Craft Collective launched in 2018 after woodworking colleagues recognized a void in San Diego’s creative community. They envisioned an inclusive educational venue where woodworking and other skilled crafts would be taught. This space would be a community resource offering expert instruction and access to a high-quality woodshop for people who would otherwise not have the means to purchase tools or attend classes at a well-equipped facility. And now, our doors are open, tools engaged and creativity abounds as we add new craft experiences for our students of all ages & skill levels!

OUR APPROACH

Inspired by the Waldorf & Montessori education models and the Sloyd Method, the Craft Collective founders created a safe and welcoming place where adults and children get back to basics and learn how to make arts and crafts with their own hands—a respite from society’s plastic, mass-produced, marketing-driven toys and objects. Here, families enjoy healthy opportunities to enjoy quality time together.

The Craft Collective teaches all ages and encourages active skill-building to create quality, handmade projects, with a strong emphasis on imagination and creativity. With small class sizes that allow for individual engagement, students have the space to learn and develop proficiency at their own pace.

As stewards of healthy living, the Craft Collective believes strongly that crafting has a positive impact on health—reducing stress, boosting self-esteem, improving cognitive function and fine motor skills. Craft can be a means of creative fulfillment, calming the mind and body, and connecting with others.

We look forward to serving you on your creative journey!
