$425.00$450.00

June 22 & 23 from 9am – 1pm with a 1.5-hr break and 2:30 – 6:30pm

Join us in crafting your own woven stool! In this 2-day intensive series, taught by Erin Behling, each student will create their own stool from beech wood while learning the basics of woodworking, furniture design and traditional weaving techniques using Danish cord. While getting familiar with the tools in the woodshop during this course, students will learn mortise and tenon joinery basics, cutting joinery, shaping and finishing wood, how to cut tapered legs on the tablesaw, and of course– how to weave that beautiful seat with Danish cord! Methods we use in this class are different from our other woodworking classes, so this series will give you even more knowledge!

OPTIONAL: Upgrade to Walnut wood for stool legs for an additional $25. All rails will be made from Beech.
.
All levels are welcome; ages 18 and up.
Must be able to attend both all-day classes.
No prerequisite is required, but we do recommend taking our machine safety course: Intro to the Woodshop.

Description

The Woven Stool (2-day Intensive)
June 22 & 23 from 9am – 1pm with a 1.5-hr break & 2:30 – 6:30pm

San Diego Craft Collective, 2590 Truxtun Rd., Studio 106, SD 92106 • 619.273.3235 • make@sandiegocraft.org

This workshop is held indoors in our woodshop, so we suggest:
• Dress in layers so you can adjust to the studio temperature. We work with windows open.
• Bring water/beverage.
• Wear c
losed-toe shoes — dropping tools on toes really hurts!
• Long hair must be tied back.
• Do not wear clothing with flowy sleeves and no dangly jewelry as these items can get caught on tools and machines.

HEALTH: If you are sick, please do not come to class. Call or email us as soon as possible to let us know. Mask-wearing is optional and at the discretion of the student or parent.

DIRECTIONS: Located in Liberty Station’s Arts District, you can find our studio at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor of the Dorothea Laub Music & Arts Center (Bldg 176) at the corner of Roosevelt & Truxtun, next to The Lot movie theater. There is plenty of free parking. Parking Lot Q is behind our studio — enter via the driveway off Dewey. Across the street in the Vons parking lot, it is also free. If you can’t find us, call or text 619.273.3235.

CLASS SIZE: 3 min/6 max. If the minimum is not met, you will receive a full refund or credit toward another class.

REFUNDS: No refunds for tardiness or no-shows. For a refund (minus the 3% credit card processing fee), you must cancel 7 days before the start of the class. After 7 days, we cannot offer refunds, as materials and supplies have already been purchased.

TRANSFERS: You may transfer your enrollment space to someone else, but transfers must happen before the series begins. Please email us to let us know who’s coming.
