Ages 6-12 welcome!

Lead instructor, Tres, teaches this month-long series full of hands-on, engaging crafts that will allow your child to express themselves in a creative way. They’ll build fine motor skills, eye-hand coordination, and grow an understanding of color theory. This nurturing learning environment makes space for each child to develop their own unique artistic style. Projects encourage problem solving through imaginative and innovative ways, using foundations such as woodworking, textiles, clay ceramics, paper, found nature objects, and fused glass. Young students will make beautiful pieces to take home over the course of their series.

Our students will explore a variety of mediums that teach dexterity using safe, natural materials. Each project encourages craftsmanship, follow through, and material exploration. Alongside mixed-media arts, children are supported in practicing movement arts through juggling, toss games, and balance activities. Movement can be as essential to creativity as the art pieces themselves. Art projects are switched up monthly, so repeats are welcome!

Drop-ins are welcome! Is your child curious about woodworking & taking this class? Choose ‘Drop In Date’ from the drop-down menu (please purchase 48 hours in advance so we can have supplies ready) and tell us which date you’re child will come in the Notes section at checkout.

San Diego Craft Collective, 2590 Truxtun Rd., Studio 106, SD 92106 • 619.273.3235 • make@sandiegocraft.org

This class series moves from indoors to outdoors depending on the craft activity, so we suggest:

• Dress in layers, bring a jacket, hat, apply sunscreen (if needed) so your child can adjust to the weather or the studio temperature.
• Bring water in a refillable bottle.
• Wear closed-toe shoes. Dropping tools on feet really hurts!
• Dress your child in comfortable clothes that can get messy.

DIRECTIONS: Located in Liberty Station’s Arts District, you can find our studio at the end of the hallway on the 1st floor of the Dorothea Laub Music & Arts Center (Bldg 176) at the corner of Roosevelt & Truxtun, next to The Lot movie theater. There is plenty of free parking. Parking Lot Q is behind our studio — enter via the driveway off Dewey. Across the street in the Vons parking lot, it is also free. If you can’t find us, call or text 619.273.3235.

CLASS SIZE: 3 min. If the minimum is not met, you will receive a full refund or credit toward another class.

REFUNDS: No refunds for tardiness or no-shows. For a refund (minus a 5% processing fee), you must cancel 7 days before the start of the class. After 7 days, we cannot offer refunds, as materials and supplies have already been purchased.

TRANSFERS: You may transfer your enrollment spot to someone else, but transfers must happen before the workshop begins. Please email us to let us know who’s coming.

INTEREST LIST: If a class is full or you would like to be notified of future offerings, join our Interest List to be notified when new dates or spaces are available.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Hello incoming students! My name is Tres, and I am excited to be teaching arts, crafts, and circus basics this year.  After a career as a performing artist and painter, I have built a teaching method based on supportive expression, play-based learning, and inspiration guided curriculum.  I believe that everyone can find a spark of Art that interests them, and I’m ready to help it catch fire! Classes that are available will include traditional mediums such as watercolor and acrylic painting, clay and wood sculptures that can be decorated, as well as mixed media cutting and glueing projects.  In addition, with 11 years of teaching and practicing circus arts such as juggling, hula hooping, and balance, I will have lessons available for all ages and skill levels with no previous experience required! Thank you so much for your interest in San Diego Craft Collective.  I am looking forward to creating take home artwork and fun memories together!
